We at Central Texas Feline Rescue (CTFR) are filled with gratitude for the incredible community that has made 2024 a year of hope, progress, and lifesaving impact. Your support has allowed us to provide care, love, and second chances to so many cats and kittens in need.
This year has been nothing short of remarkable. Together, we:
- Trap-Neuter-Returned 96 community cats to prevent overpopulation and provide better lives for feral cats.
- Installed portable shelters at our colony sites to protect outdoor cats from harsh weather.
- Manor, TX placed a new facility for overflow, cats with medical issues or unable to place cats. It is still under construction.
- Fed over 130 cats daily, thanks to the tireless dedication of our volunteers.
- Partnered with community events to spread awareness about the importance of spay, neuter, and adoption.
- Achieved a record number of adoptions, finding loving forever homes for countless cats.
- Welcomed a growing team of dedicated volunteers, who generously donated their time, energy, and passion to our mission.
Juno’s Journey: A Life of Resilience
Juno, a 13-year-old stray from Austin, lost everything—her home, her caretaker, and her family—when her longtime caretaker passed away. CTFR stepped in to give her the care she needed. Juno, a semi-feral cat set in her ways, initially resisted indoor life. But with patience and love, she slowly began to adapt to her new environment.
Tragically, Juno developed a serious illness, and despite intensive care and syringe feeding, her condition worsened. We made the heartbreaking decision to humanely euthanize her. Honoring her dignity and love for the outdoors. Juno was laid to rest in her familiar territory, where she had thrived for 13 years. Her story is a testament to our commitment to providing compassion and care for every cat, no matter their stage in life.
Cousin Earl & Jed: Golden Years with Comfort and Care
Cousin Earl survived unimaginable trauma during Hurricane Harvey, the shelters were so over -crowed he was kept in a carrier for three long months. When he came to CTFR, his age, dental issues, and past trauma made adoption unlikely. But we gave him the care he deserved, repairing his teeth and ensuring his twilight years are filled with comfort and dignity. Earl prefers quiet moments in the garage, but he’s been safe and loved since 2017.Jed, another senior cat, arrived at CTFR weary and frail. His kind eyes hid a story of hardship, and testing revealed he carried FIV. Despite these challenges, CTFR welcomed Jed with open arms. Today, Jed spends his days lounging on the coffee table, soaking up love and warmth. Both Earl and Jed remind us of the importance of giving every cat, no matter their age, the care and dignity they deserve in their golden years.
A Mother’s Love: A Heartwarming Adoption Story
Our partnership with Mt Pleasant Animal Shelter, a high-intake facility where time is of the essence for feline residents, has yielded another heartwarming success story this year. We received an urgent plea for a mother cat and her five kittens. Not only did CTFR take them in, but the shelter staff also entrusted us with three additional orphaned kittens. Remarkably, the mama cat embraced these newcomers as her own, nursing them alongside her biological litter. Unfortunately, we lost one kitten but all the others did survive.
Thanks to our dedicated foster network and the generosity of our supporters, all seven kittens and their devoted mama found loving forever homes!
Looking Ahead to 2025
While we celebrate the successes of this year, we know there is still so much work to be done. Every day, we encounter more cats in need—whether it’s feral cats in our community colonies, vulnerable seniors like Cousin Earl and Jed, or kittens desperately waiting for a second chance.
With your continued support, we can save more lives, provide medical care, and ensure every cat we rescue receives the love and dignity they deserve.
How You Can Help
Your generosity powers everything we do. Every donation goes directly to providing food, shelter, medical care, and love to cats in need. As we close out the year, we ask you to consider making a year-end contribution to help us continue this vital work into 2025.
Together, we’ve achieved so much this year. Let’s keep building on this momentum to save even more lives in the year to come.
Thank you for being part of our CTFR family. Your compassion and support make all of this possible.
